Catherine Delait

Catherine Delait (? - ?) was a French bearded lady who kept a caf. Catherine Delait and her husband kept a caf in Thaon-les-Vosges, in Lorraine, France. According to later accounts, Catherine Delait visited a carnival, saw a bearded women with a stubble and boasted that she could grow a better beard herself. Her husband bet 500 francs to back her. Bet attracted lots more customers to Delaits' caf and they changed the name to Le Caf de La Femme a Barbe, "The caf of the Bearded Woman". Delait also sold photographs of herself.
