Cascade, Seattle, Washington

Cascade is a small neighborhood abutting Downtown Seattle. It is bounded by Fairview Avenue North on the west, beyond which is the rest of South Lake Union; Lake Union and East Garfield Street on the north, beyond which is Eastlake; Interstate 5 on the east, beyond which is Capitol Hill; and Denny Way on the south, beyond which is Downtown. Cascade is currently being transformed by Paul Allen into a biotechnology hub. It is currently home to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Shurgard Storage Centers as well as the flagship store of R.E.I. Its main thoroughfares are Mercer Street (eastbound) and Fairview Avenue N. and Eastlake Avenue E. (north- and southbound).
