Carrick-on-shannon

Carrick-on-Shannon (Irish: Cora Droma Risc) is situated in County Leitrim in the Republic of Ireland on the County Roscommon border. The population of the town is in the region of 3,500+. With the town situated on the River Shannon it is has become one of the most popular destinations for cruise holidays in Ireland. Since the end of the 1990s the town has seen an increase in growth and is expected to hit 10,000 by 2010. It is widely held that Carrick-on-Shannon has the highest number of pubs per head of population in Ireland. The town is connected to the DublinSligo railway line.
