Carlos Fandango

Expression derived from a British television commercial of the 1980s. The commercial, for a cigar, showed a car that had been fitted with extremely wide "Carlos Fandango" wheels but then the vehicle became too wide to exit from the owner's driveway. The term "Carlos Fandango" can now be used to describe anything that looks impressive but is otherwise impractical or disfunctional. See also creeping featurism, fandango, fandango on core.
