Carfax Tower

The Carfax Tower is located at the conjunction of St Aldate's Street, Cornmarket Street, Queen's Street, and High Street in central Oxford. The name Carfax derives from the French "carrefour", or "crossroads". The Tower is all that remains of the 13th century St. Martin's Church and it is 23 m (74 feet) tall. In March and April of 2003 it was used as the meeting spot for anti-war protests.
