Cara Operations Limited is a franchise that owns restaurant chains like Harvey's and Swiss Chalet. Among other companies they own include the coffee chain Second Cup, Kelsey's and Montana's. The name Cara was derived from the first two letters of "Canada Railway", and is an Irish word meaning "Friend".

History

February 26, 2004: Cara goes private. 1968: Cara goes public. 1961: Changes name to Cara Operations Limited. 1883: Canada Railway News Co. is founded.
