Capitoline Triad
The
Capitoline Triad
was comprised of three deities of
Roman mythology
who were worshipped in an elaborate temple on
Rome
's
Capitoline Hill
. The three deities thus honoured were
Jupiter (god)
, the King of the Gods, his wife and half-sister
Juno (mythology)
, and their daughter
Minerva
, Goddess of Wisdom. The temple was built under the reign of
Lucius Tarquinius Superbus
, the last King of Rome prior to the establishment of the
Roman Republic
.
