Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia

Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM) is a regional municipality in Nova Scotia, Canada. The 2001 population was 105,968, making it Nova Scotia's second most populous urban centre. In the early 1990s the provincial government sought to reduce the number of municipalities in Halifax County and Cape Breton County and created a task force in 1992 to pursue this rationalization. In 1995, the Cape Breton Regional Municipality Act was implemented and the CBRM was created on August 1, 1995. The CBRM constitutes the following now-amalgamated municipalities:
