Candy Raver

A candy raver is a raver (a rave attendee) who exchanges or shares small gifts, usually hugs, small toys, maybe drugs (for those who chose), rave music CDs, beads, necklaces, bracelets, or candy. A popular candy of choice is the edible bracelet or necklace. They usually wear these "gifts" to remember past "raves" they have been to and recognize people they have met. Candy Ravers are most widely known (and sometimes identified by) their brightly colored, often childish or even cartoony fashions, such as day-glo wide leg pants, black light reactive or glow-in-the-dark bracelets/necklaces and t-shirts featuring beloved childhood cartoon characters. Above all they can be spotted by a number of homemade bracelets of plastic beads, known as "Raver candy", not to be confused with the edible kind. The bracelets are often worn and given as gifts to remember past raves and commemorate new friendships. Candy ravers sometimes use the acronym PLUR (peace, love, unity and respect) as their creed or motto. The use of PLUR has lately been on the decline due to disillusionment in the scene, although its influence is still seen at most raves. "Candy raver" is also sometimes used as a derogatory term for individuals that use drugs as if they were eating candy. Candy ravers may or may not use recreational drugs
