Canchim
is a breed of
cattle
. Its origin is Central
Brazil
and it was developed by crossing the
Indian
Zebu
cattle (
Bos indicus
) and the
European
(
Bos taurus
)
Charolais cattle
which were introduced to Brazil in the
18th century
. Compared to the very productive European cattle, Zebu cattle is better suited to the Brazilian climate.
