Canada, New France

Canada, was the name of the French colony along the St. Lawrence River basin, and the northern coastal area of the Great Lakes. It was part of French North America, of the New France colonies. After the Treaty of Paris when France ceded Canada to Britain in exchange for keeping Guadalope, the colony was renamed as the Province of Quebec.
