Camano, WashingtonCamano is a census-designated place located in Island County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 13,347. Geography is located at 48°11'37" North, 122°29'11" West (48.193606, -122.486419). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 245.9 km² (94.9 mi²). 103.0 km² (39.8 mi²) of it is land and 142.9 km² (55.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 58.11% water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 13,347 people, 5,357 households, and 4,028 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 129.6/km² (335.6/mi²). There are 6,709 housing units at an average density of 65.1/km² (168.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 95.61% White, 0.25% African American, 0.83% Native American, 0.65% Asian, 0.25% Pacific Islander, 0.56% from other races, and 1.84% from two or more races. 2.06% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 5,357 households out of which 28.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.0% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% are non-families. 20.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.49 and the average family size is 2.86. In the CDP the population is spread out with 24.1% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 27.7% from 45 to 64, and 18.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 99.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.9 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $54,262, and the median income for a family is $60,013. Males have a median income of $47,309 versus $31,250 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $24,362. 5.6% of the population and 4.4% of families are below the poverty line.
