Caister

Norfolk, England
, three miles north of
Great Yarmouth
. A Roman settlement, it is also the site of a 15th-century
moated
castle with a 100 ft high
tower
. It had been built by Sir John Fastolf who was the inspiration for
William Shakespeare
's
Falstaff
.
Nine miles south west is another Roman castle at
Burgh Castle
.
