BuntingfordBuntingford is a town in the district of East Hertfordshire, in Hertfordshire, England. It has a population of around 5,500 people and lies on the River Rib and the Roman road Ermine Street. As a result, it grew mainly as a staging post with coaching inns. The town has a large number of Georgian and mediaeval buildings, including Buntingford almshouses, Buntingford Manor House and Red House. You can find out more information on the Buntingford website. Buntingford is a stop-over on the main route between London and Cambridge, the A10, or the 'Great Cambridge Road' as it known in the North London area. Due to it's desirability as a commuter town in recent years, the town has grown considerably in the past few decades, the most noticeable addition being the 'Bovis Estate' (circa 1990), informally named after the housing firm that constructed there. Famous residents Urban poet Darren Newstead currently lives in Buntingford. His musings on modern technology and the information age have been published on such popular tech sites as 'Terminal Computers', 'Wired' magazine and renowned Web-based missive 'The Inquirer'.
