Buckland, Buckinghamshire

Buckland is a village in Buckinghamshire, England. It is located near the border with Hertfordshire, adjacent to Aston Clinton. The village name is a common one in England. It is Anglo Saxon in origin, and refers to a place which has received a Royal charter of some description. It is not known what type of charter to which this refers in this case. Within the parish of Buckland lies the hamlet of Buckland Wharf, which refers to a landing stage on a branch of the Grand Union Canal that passes through the village.
