British Rail Class 220

The Class 220 Voyager and Class 221 Super Voyager are diesel-electric high speed multiple units built by Bombardier for the British train operating company Virgin CrossCountry. As a result, they are the mainstay of long distance trains in Britain that do not terminate in London. Multiple Voyager units can be coupled together to make longer trains, but there are no gangways allowing passengers to walk between the units. The principal differences between the Voyager and Super Voyager fleet are that the Super Voyager consists usually of five carriages rather than the Voyager's four, and like the Pendolino can tilt when going around curves in order to allow higher speeds. Midland Mainline's new Meridian trains are closely related to the Voyager fleet, although they have a revised front end and are, according to Bombardier Transportation, '80% new train'.
