brian mullan

Brian Mullan (born April 23, 1978 in Mineola, New York) is an American soccer player, who currently plays right midfield and forward for the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer. Mullan played his college soccer at Creighton University from 1997 to 2000, where he was named a second team All-American as a senior. While at Creighton, Brian played with current Earthquakes teammate Richard Mulrooney. Upon graduating, he was drafted 9th overall by the Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2001 MLS SuperDraft. Brian played two seasons for the Galaxy, but did not see much playing time, Brian totaled five goals and four assists in 31 games. He was traded to the Earthquakes prior to the 2003 season for a 2003 second round pick, and, with a move from forward to right midfield, his career took off. Mullan started all 30 regular season and four playoff games as the Quakes won the MLS Cup; he scored six goals and added nine assists, plus added a goal and two assists in the playoffs. In 2004, Mullan scored three goals and recorded eight assists. Mullan received his first cap for the US national team on July 11, 2004 against Poland.
