Brian MolkoThe American-Scottish Brian Molko (born December 10, 1972 in Brussels as the younger one of two boys) is a vocalist, bassist and guitarist with the band Placebo. As his father was an itinerant banker, Molko travelled frequently as a child, living in Lebanon, Liberia and Luxembourg.
In 1990 he attended Goldsmiths College in London, where he studied drama.
His Scottish born-again Christian mother and his father tried to pull him in different directions in his formative years in the hope of making him becoming like them. But the only result they got from him was totally the opposite as he forged his own identity trying to escape from their educational, family and religious pressures, and became the nail-polish, lipstick and eyeliner-wearing, androgynous, travestite, drug taking musician everyone knows about. He formed Ashtray Heart with Stefan Olsdal; eventually they formed Placebo together with drummer Robert Schultzberg, who soon was replaced by Steve Hewitt His musical influences were and are Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, Nick Drake and The Pixies.
