Branxton, New South Wales

Branxton is the name of a town in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, Australia. The Branxton area was settled in the 1820s and was named after Branxton, England. Branxton is located on the New England Highway between Maitland and Singleton. It is about 200 kilometers north of Sydney. It is close to major grape-growing areas. Branxton is well known for being a town with two cemeteries and no hospital. In 1980 it was the first place in Australia for Lyme disease to be found.
