Bradwell, Milton Keynes

Bradwell is a village in the county of Milton Keynes. It has been completely swallowed up by the new town of Milton Keynes. Historically Bradwell was in the traditional county of Buckinghamshire. The village name is Anglo Saxon and means broad spring. In the Domesday Book of 1086 the village was recorded as Bradewelle. Bradwell was once the location of a Benedictine priory, founded in 1155, called Bradwell Abbey. This was disbanded during the dissolution of the monasteries and all that remains today is the name, which is of a part of Milton Keynes.
