Boston Red Stockings

The Boston Red Stockings was a name used by two Boston baseball teams. Four professional baseball teams in Boston have used the word 'Red' in their names. Additionally, the 1884 Union Association Boston team was named the 'Boston Reds' (also called the Boston Unions). This team lasted 1 year and disbanded in 1884. Note that the American League Boston Red Sox were never known as the 'Red Stockings'
