Blue Ridge is a census-designated place located in Elmore County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the CDP is 1,331.

Geography

Blue Ridge is located at 32°29'12" North, 86°11'27" West (32.486744, -86.190823). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 20.5 km² (7.9 mi²). 20.4 km² (7.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.88% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 1,331 people, 511 households, and 436 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 65.4/km² (169.3/mi²). There are 526 housing units at an average density of 25.8/km² (66.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 95.79% White, 3.08% Black or African American, 0.38% Native American, 0.30% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.38% from two or more races. 0.53% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 511 households out of which 30.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 76.9% are married couples living together, 6.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 14.5% are non-families. 13.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 2.84. In the CDP the population is spread out with 22.2% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 21.0% from 25 to 44, 37.6% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 46 years. For every 100 females there are 101.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.4 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $73,162, and the median income for a family is $83,320. Males have a median income of $60,625 versus $37,875 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $32,774. 1.1% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 0.0% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
