Bitpop

Bitpop is a type of electronic music, where at least part of the music is made using old 8-bit computers or game consoles. Popular choices are the Commodore 64 and Game Boy. Two major publishers of bitpop are Relax Beat & Bleepstreet Records. Examples of bands in the genre are The Hardliner, , Machinae Supremacy, Pluxus, Khonnor, Puss, Monster & Maskiner, 1987, GOTO80, Covox, firestARTer, Pontonius, and Slagsmlsklubben. (The name is a pun on britpop -- much bitpop is made in Britain -- and bit.) Related to bitpop are groups that write chip music such as YM Rockerz, AY Riders, and producers such as T & J.
