Bishop Blanchet High SchoolBishop Blanchet High School is a coed Catholic high school located just north of Green Lake in Seattle, Washington. It was founded in 1954 by the Archdiocese of Seattle and admitted both boys and girls from the beginning. Blanchet has 1,035 students, 76% of whom are Catholics, and 73 teachers, 69 of them full-time. Annual tuition is $7,182 for Catholics, as of 2004. Current Administration Blanchet's principal has been Kent Hickey since 2000. The Vice-Principal of Student Life has been Charles "Chuck" Bocian since 1999. Bocian is a graduate of the class of 1974. Since the beginning of Hickey's tenure, some considerable changes have been made: among these are a capital campaign which resulted in the remodeling of the south front of the building, the erection of the Haggerty Hall Music Center (situated in the former location of the visitor parking lot on the north end), and the construction of the fully operational Mickey Naish Field. The campaign came to a conclusion in 2004. Its source of revenue was grants and pledges from parents, past parents, alumni, staff, and others. The school chaplain is Fr. Gordon Douglas, colloquially referred to as "Fr. Doug," who is very popular among the student body. The Dean of Women is Mrs. Lou Ella McGaughey; the Dean of Men is Dr. Tim Uhl. The 2004-2005 President of the Associated Student Body is senior Sean Boyle. His Vice President is Ashley Odland. The ASB Secretary is Andrew Valle, and the Treasurer is Tom Genest. The school newspaper is called The Miter, and is published once every month. The Fight Song Cheer, cheer, cheer for Blanchet's our name.
