Birnamwood, WisconsinBirnamwood is a village located in Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 795. The village is located mostly within the Town of Birnamwood in Shawano County. A small portion extends into the Town of Norrie in adjacent Marathon County. Geography is located at 44°55'52" North, 89°12'35" West (44.931199, -89.209643). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 5.7 km² (2.2 mi²). None of the area is covered with water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 795 people, 309 households, and 202 families residing in the village. The population density is 138.9/km² (360.4/mi²). There are 328 housing units at an average density of 57.3/km² (148.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.61% White, 0.13% African American, 0.13% Native American, 1.26% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. 0.13% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 309 households out of which 35.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.1% are married couples living together, 8.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.6% are non-families. 31.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 3.14. In the village the population is spread out with 29.2% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 17.5% from 45 to 64, and 20.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 89.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.2 males. The median income for a household in the village is $37,813, and the median income for a family is $47,574. Males have a median income of $32,500 versus $24,688 for females. The per capita income for the village is $17,740. 7.9% of the population and 5.0% of families are below the poverty line.
