Birhanu Bayeh

Birhanu Beyhe (born 1938) was a politician in Ethiopia during the regime of Mengistu Haile Mariam. He was foreign minister of Ethiopia from 1986 until 1989. When the government fell in 1991 he fled to the Italian embassy, where as of June 2004 he still remains in hiding. On June 2, 2004, he reportedly killed Tesfaye Gebre Kidan, a former political coleague who had also fled to the Italian embassy in 1991. The two men had been fighting for unclear reasons, and Kidan was apparently hit on the head with a bottle. Bayeh, Birhanu
