Bill DauteriveBill Dauterive is a slovenly, overweight, simple-minded, divorced, Army barber at Blanda Army Base on the animated TV show King of the Hill. Previously he had been a soldier. His full name is "William Fontaine de la Tour D'auterive". He comes from a rich Cajun family. In one episode, he and his friends stop at his family's mansion. Much like the speaker in "The Raven", he pines for his ex-wife, Lenore. Bill once dated former Texas governor Ann Richards. Like his friends and high school classmates Hank Hill, Dale Gribble, and Boomhauer, he frequently partakes of Alamo beer in the alley behind Hank's house. Bill once stole a couch (discarded by Kahn after a cat peed on it) that he and his friends used to sit on in the alley where they drink. The reason for Bill's physical state was thought to have been that he was an Army test subject from 1982-1984. He was apparently secretly given drugs in a project to create an elite group of artic commandos with walrus-like capabilities; they would be deployed if the Soviet Union were ever to invade the United States through Alaska.
