Bernd Munsteiner

Bernd Munsteiner, born into the tradition of gem-cutting in Germany, (he is the third generation) is one of this century's most innovative jewellery artists. Munsteiner revolutionized the lapidary arts with his "fantasy cuts", actually sculpting transparent free-form stones with sharp-edged asymmetrical outlines and unique "ladder" grooves or graphic incisions to maximize the potential reflection and refraction. Collectors prize his works as "true rarities". His work is in many museums and private collections including the Smithsonian Institution.
