Beloeil

see also the much larger Beloeil, Quebec Beloeil is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Hainaut. On January 1st, 2004 Beloeil had a total population of 13,395 (6,557 males and 6,838 females). The total area is 61.55 km² which gives a population density of 217.64 inhabitants per km². The municipality is named for the chteau of Beloeil (illustation, right), once the seat of Charles-Joseph, prince de Ligne, a military officer and man of letters who corresponded with Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Voltaire.
