Belmont Abbey

Belmont Abbey is a small community of Benedictine monks living outside of Charlotte, North Carolina in the town of Belmont, North Carolina. Founded by Bishop Leo Haid in the mid-1800's, it is the daughter abbey to St. Vincent's Abbey in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and mother abbey to St. Leo's Abbey in Tampa, Florida. The monks also operate Belmont Abbey College; a small, four year Catholic liberal arts school. Belmont Abbey's full, proper name is, "Mary Help of Christians Abbey."
