Beatriz Merino

Beatriz Merino (born 1947) was the first female Prime Minister of Peru. She had been in this office since March 2002, and is the first female to do so. Before she was appointed she was a lawyer and in charge of Peru's tax office. She had fallen out with the President over style of administration and other issues, and was asked to resign by President Alejandro Toledo, and did so on December 15, 2003.
