Bay Of Pomerania

Bay of Pomerania or Pomeranian Bay (Polish: Zatoka Pomorska; German: Pommersche Bucht) is a basin in the south-western Baltic Sea, off the shores of Poland and Germany. In the south it is separated from the Szczecin Lagoon in the mouth of the Oder River by the islands of Usedom/Uznam and Wolin/Wollin, connected by three straits or branches of the Oder: Dziwna, Świna/Swine and Peene/Piana. The west is limited by the German island of Rgen/Rugia. To the north there is a Danish island of Bornholm. Maximum depth is 20 metres and salinity approximately 8 promille. The bay of Pomerania is crossed with a deepened waterway from the Szczecin seaport, via Odra river, Lagoon of Szczecin, Swina allowing large ships to enter ports of Swinoujscie and Szczecin.
