Battlefield 1918

Battlefield 1918 (BF1918) is a mod of the computer game Battlefield 1942. The mod is a total conversion featuring a World War I era theme, as opposed to the World War II theme of the original game. It had its first public release in spring of 2004. Depicted in game is a wide variety of World War I-era eqipment used by the German and French military forces. The highlight of the early releases were intense trench warfare and high visual realism. The mod's gameplay balance is semi-realistic in terms of damage models and vehicle physics. Among the most notable features of the mod is the ability, for the first time, to control WWI-era Zeppelin airships, fighter aircraft and armored vehicles. The mod has received some limited competition in the WWI category from another mod, The Great War (TGW) (previously 1914: The Great War). TGW's different feel and focus, has limited cross competition however. BF1918 remains in development in 2004 with updates on the 18th of each month. New content and maps, such as a naval warfare map are expected in the future along with the typical bug fixes and tweaks.
