Battle Of Pleven

Town around 60 km Sought from Danube River in mid Danube valley (130000 inhabitants). During the war the famous Turkish commander Gaazy Osman Pasha succeeded to organize strong fortress around the city putting at great risk all the efforts of Russian army (July November 1877). After his surrender (10.12.1877) in three months during the severe Winter the Russian troops reach Istanbul and the war ended (March 19, 1878).
