The Battle of Lookout Mountain, also known as the Battle Above the Clouds, was fought on November 24, 1863, in southeastern Tennessee near Chattanooga in the American Civil War. Union forces under General Ulysses S. Grant and Joseph Hooker captured Lookout Mountain and began to break the Confederate siege of the city led by General Braxton Bragg. Lookout Mountain
