Murad II
. The battle was fought between

10th
in the Kosovo Field (
Kosovo Polje
).

Wallachia

Đurađ Branković
of
Serbia
fought with the Turks, while the Albanian
George Kastriota
remained neutral. With this loss, the Roman Catholic forces of the west lost hope of containing the advance of the Ottoman
Muslims
(backed by
Orthodox Christians
), and the
Balkans
