Battle Of Hanau

Battle of Hanau was fought between French and Austro-Bavarian armies on October 30-31, 1813 during the Liberation Wars against Napoleonic France. Bavaria, former French ally, joined the Coalition according to the Treaty of Reid concluded just before the battle of Leipzig. An Austro-Bavarian corps under prominent Bavarian Field marshal von Wrede attacked the retreating French army at Hanau, Hesse, however, were routed by Napoleon. Wrede received a wound in his head.
