Battle Of Chacabuco

The Battle of Chacabuco took place on February 12 1817 near Santiago, Chile and was fought between South American patriots and Spanish royalists during the Latin American wars of independence. It was a victory for the patriots and signified the beginning of the expulsion of the Spaniards from Chile, an enterprise completed the next year at the Battle of Maip.
