Baruch CollegeBaruch College is one of the constituent colleges comprising the City University of New York. Established in 1919, the college sits on the former site of the Free Academy (now City College of New York), which was founded in 1847 and was the first institution of free public higher education in the United States. Originally the City College's School of Business and Civic Administration, the school was renamed in honor of Bernard Baruch, a noted statesman and financier. In 1968, Baruch became an independent senior college of the City University. Total enrollment at Baruch is over 15,000, including nearly 2,500 graduate students. Baruch is particularly noted for its Zicklin School of Business (the largest collegiate school of business in the U.S.) and its School of Public Affairs. External link
