Barre Chord

Barre chords are a type of guitar chord where the index finger is used to fret (press down) several or all of the strings across the guitar in order to play a chord at a higher note. They are commonly used to free up other fingers or to fret multiple strings when it would otherwise be impossible to. Well-known songs featuring barre chords include "Cocaine", "Smells Like Teen Spirit", and "Layla".
