| | lectronics: | The Barracuda is the next generation of nuclear attack submarine of the French Marine Nationale, designed by the DCN to replace the Rubis class submarines. They are designed with the technology of the Triomphant class (the pump propeller is a distinctive feature). They will be fitted with cruise missiles to allow long-range and deep strikes. Their missions include anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare, land attack, intelligence gathering, crisis management and special operations. 6 nuclear attack submarines of the Barracuda class are planned; 2 should be ordered between 2003 and 2008, and the first commissioning is expected for 2012 Barracuda Barracuda
