Banteay Srei Srei is part of the temple complex in Angkor, Cambodia and was contructed by Rajendravarman II (reigned 944-968) and Jayavarman V (reigned 968-1001). It is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva. Although the temple is small, it is renowned for its intricate carvings, which depict scenes from the Ramayana. Banteay Srei means 'Citadel of the Women', a name which reflects the belief that the carvings are too fine to have been produced by male craftsmen.
