Bankcard

BankCard, founded 1974, is a shared brand credit card issued by Australian financial institutions, and accepted, at present, only by businesses within mainland Australia, Tasmania, and Lord Howe Island; Norfolk Island; New Zealand; and the Cook Islands. As of 2004, BankCards are held by 2.3 million people and accepted by 350,000 establishments. BankCard.com.au reports an annual charge volume of $5.5 billion AUD. At the present time only National_Australia_Bank, Commonwealth_Bank and Westpac are issuing BankCards, but other banks continue to process BankCard transactions.
