Baillif
Baillif
is a village located in the
French Caribbean
island
of
Guadeloupe
. Situated in the south of proper Guadeloupe it covers an area of 2.430 acres (10 km²). At the last census its population was calculated at 6.315 inhabitants. The name of the commune would come from the name of one of its early inhabitants called
Robert Baillif
. He used to trade there from 1650 to around 1700.
