Awareness BraceletAwareness bracelets are monochromatic silicone-rubber wristbands that are sold to raise money and "awareness" for a variety of charitable causes. They have become a fashion statement as well, with the display of multiple differently colored bands becoming relatively common. The first such band was the Livestrong Yellow Band, which raises money for cancer research. It was created by Lance Armstrong in 2004, a professional cyclist and cancer survivor. After the success of the Livestrong Yellow Band, supporters of a variety of other causes, from relief for Asian tsunami victims to Alzheimer's disease research, have created similar bracelet campaigns.
