Award Numerals

Award numerals are decorations of the United States military which are attachments to certain ribbons and awards. Award numerals denote additional decorations of an award and appear as arabic numerals on a medal or ribbon. Award numerals are very similar to the Strike/Flight numerals of the U.S. Navy and United States Marines. With one exception, the United States Army is the only branch of service to use award numerals on decorations. The decorations which use award numerals are as follows: The Armed Forces Reserve Medal is the only other decoration to use award numerals, and it is issued by every branch of service.
