Avian Veterinarian

An avian veterinarian is a veterinarian who has undertaken additional training to treat birds. Birds are very different in anatomy and physiology to dogs and cats, and to specialize in their treatment, a veterinary student must seek out coursework and residencies that are beyond the scope of standard veterinary school. Avian veterinarians are certified by the Association of Avian Veterinarians.
