Aurelio Of Asturias

Aurelio of Asturias was King of Asturias from 768 to 774. Born c. 740 in León, he was the son of Fruela I (King of Asturias 759 to 768) and father of Bermudo I (King of Asturias 789 to 791). This seems to have been a relatively quiet reign; the Moors had been defeated at the battle of Covadonga in 722, and at that time showed little inclination to retake the area with its poor resources and difficult terrain. Aurelio was buried in the Church of Saint Martin Langreo, in Asturias, Spain.
