Aurelian Townsend

Aurelian Townsend (1583?-1643) was an English poet. He is noted for: his membership of the Cavalier poets grouping of friends; the masque Tempe Restored (1632), performed on Shrove Tuesday in which Queen Henrietta Maria and fourteen court ladies appeared; and the verse epistle In answer of an Elegiacall Letter upon the death of the King of Sweden from Aurelian Townsend of Thomas Carew for which he was indirectly responsible.
