Ault Field, Washington

Ault Field is a census-designated place located in Island County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 2,064. It is the primary location of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

Geography

  Field is located at 48°19'29" North, 122°39'53" West (48.324860, -122.664772). 
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 26.9 km² (10.4 mi²). 17.8 km² (6.9 mi²) of it is land and 9.1 km² (3.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 33.78% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 2,064 people, 306 households, and 291 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 115.8/km² (299.9/mi²). There are 311 housing units at an average density of 17.5/km² (45.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 65.99% White, 10.22% African American, 1.70% Native American, 10.76% Asian, 1.16% Pacific Islander, 5.81% from other races, and 4.36% from two or more races. 11.19% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 306 households out of which 67.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 82.0% are married couples living together, 11.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 4.6% are non-families. 3.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 0.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.82 and the average family size is 2.86. In the CDP the population is spread out with 14.1% under the age of 18, 56.2% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 1.0% from 45 to 64, and 0.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 22 years. For every 100 females there are 216.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 244.9 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $24,406, and the median income for a family is $24,125. Males have a median income of $15,498 versus $14,792 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $12,036. 5.2% of the population and 5.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.6% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
